EnerCan West 2012 weaves together exciting keynote speakers with concurrent sessions organized into two tracks, Oil & Gas & Energy and Other Energies & Fuels.  The conference will also feature technical research papers on topics of interest to members of the environmental and energy industries, student poster presentations, and numerous opportunities to visit the Trade Show exhibits and network with colleagues.

Andrew Heintzman

 

Andrew Heintzman is the President and CEO of Investeco Capital and Chair of the Premier’s Climate Change Advisory Panel in Ontario.  In addition to sitting on the boards for a number of corporations and foundations, Mr. Heintzman is the author of The New Entrepreneurs: Building a Green Economy for the Future and a co-editor of two other books on green investment, energy, and the development of sustainable food networks.  Mr. Heintzman was also a co-founder and publisher of Shift Magazine.

Scott Vaughan

 

Scott Vaughan is Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development for the Office of the Auditor General of Canada.  Before joining the Office in May 2008, Mr. Vaughan worked at the Organization of American States (OAS) in Washington, D.C., was the Head of Economics and Environment at the North American Commission for Environmental Cooperation (NAFTA Environmental Commission), and was a Counsellor at the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva.  He has published in the fields of environment and trade, payment for ecosystem services and international fresh water management.

KEYNOTE LUNCHEON: “New Developments in Bio-Mass and
Gasification Technology” - Christopher J. Zygarlicke

 

Christopher J. Zygarlicke is Deputy Associate Director for Research at the University of North Dakota Energy and Environmental Research Center. He has over 20 years of project management experience working in power and fuels, and currently oversees research related to renewable energy and fuels, advanced coal and biomass gasification systems, alternative liquid fuels development from fossil and renewable feedstocks, hydrogen and fuels for the military, integrated gasification solid oxide fuel cell development, hydrogen production, and energy storage. Mr. Zygarlicke is Vice Chair of the National Hydrogen Association's Renewable Hydrogen Working Group and has authored and coauthored over 200 publications, including over 60 peer-reviewed journal or book articles and a handbook for mitigating ash deposition in coal-fired utility boilers. He has bachelor's and master's degrees in Geology from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and UND, respectively.

The Green Dragon’s Lair

 

The Green Dragon’s Lair features presentations by environmental innovators and energy pioneers to conference delegates and a panel of media judges.  Presenters will compete for the attention of potential investors, business partners and most of all for the title of “The Braggin’ Dragon of Innovation.”  Be sure to watch for pitches that capture the imagination and products that might just change the world!

 

All conference delegates are invited to apply for a spot in this entertaining not-to-be-missed event at EnerCan West 2012.

 

A limited number of presenters will be selected to participate in the Green Dragon’s Lair by a panel of industry experts on the basis of their proposals.  Presentations must focus on a product or service within the environmental or energy industries that is innovative or revolutionary in some way, and presentations may be no longer than five minutes.  All presenters must register and pay conference registration fees no later than December 16, 2011.  Basic audiovisual equipment (microphone, sound system, staging) will be provided for presenters and additional equipment may be available upon request.

 

Potential presenters should submit the following information to Kathleen Livingston at info@seima.sk.ca no later than December 31, 2011:

  1. A one page maximum description of your proposed presentation, clearly indicating how your product or service is innovative within the environmental and/or energy industries;
  2. Full contact information, including company name, contact person name and email address, and the name(s) of the individual(s) who will be presenting;
  3. A description of any additional audiovisual requests, set-up needs, or props that will be used during the presentation.  (Although we will do our best to fulfill these requirements, please note that the conference facility and audiovisual provider may not be able to accommodate all requests.)
